While restrictions are beginning to ease our health workers are still working around the clock to manage testing and ultimately develop a vaccine.

Over the course of this pandemic, The Royal Melbourne Hospital has consistently put the safety of Victorians first. We ensured our hospital was prepared for a surge in coronavirus cases by managing testing, creating isolation units and establishing home monitoring systems, but we still have a long way to go.

As one of five global WHO collaborating Centres for Research on Influenza, we also operate the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Lab (VIDRL) and are therefore at the forefront of developing a vaccine for COVID-19.

Although it’s likely to take a year or more to develop, our teams are committed to this crucial endeavour and need your help to see it through.
