The Diabetes Education service provides information, education and clinical care to RMH patients diagnosed with diabetes and / or their carers.
We provide the following services:
- Individual appointments with a credentialled diabetes educator group programs for updated information and education
- Ambulatory insulin stabilisation program
- Insulin pump service
- Continuous glucose monitoring service
- Bolus advisor meter service
- Transition / young adult service
- Teaching and training for our staff
Eligibility
People can use this service who:
- are admitted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital (inpatients)
- attend clinic appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and have been referred by their doctor (outpatients)
- have been referred to the Diabetes Education Service by their general practitioner
- have a family member with diabetes (who is a current patient of the Royal Melbourne Hospital) and would like to learn more about assisting and supporting their relative’s diabetes management and care

Special referral instructions
A referral from an RMH Endocrinology staff member is required for the ambulatory insulin stabilisation, insulin pump, continuous glucose monitoring and bolus advisor meter services.
