Our Radiology service offers a full range of diagnostic and interventional services for inpatients, outpatients and emergency referrals, using state-of-the-art equipment. These services are available for private and public patients.
Radiology performs over 200,000 inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per year. We are equipped with state of the art equipment, including:
- 3 CT scanners with high end cardiac capability and the latest radiation dose reduction technologies
- 5 MRI scanners (two 1.5T and three 3T)
- 10 general and doppler US machines
- 2 biplane flat panel angiography suites
- 3 fluoroscopy rooms
- 9 digital general x-ray rooms
6 mobile x-ray units
7 mobile II units for theatre
1 mammography units with tomography capability
1 bone densitometry unit
1 digital OPG unit
The department is staffed by 20 full-time-equivalent consultant radiologists all of whom have a subspecialty interest.
Diagnostic services include:
- Digital General radiography
- Bone densitometry (DEXA)
- Computer tomography (CT)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Mobile x-ray
- Mobile II
Interventional procedures include:
- Therapeutic embolisations
- Vascular malformations.
Results are not given over the phone, but staff may check for you whether the exam has been completed and/or the report has been written.

Referring doctors can be provided access to Imaging’s Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) that allows images and results to be viewed online. To access PACS, please fill in the PACS Account Application Form.
A ZedLink PACS Viewer is also available that allows images and results to be accessed and viewed by Clinicians anywhere, anytime, on any operating system – from Windows and Macintosh browsers, to mobile devices such as iPad, iPhone and Android.
Extra copies of films may be supplied on CD for a nominal fee.
Image guided biopsies and spinal injections
For locality reasons, public patients may opt to have their Fluoroscopy or General X-Ray procedure at RMH Royal Park Campus.
We accept referrals to this service.
Please fax the referral to us. We need a copy of the request form before the booking is made.
We do our best to accommodate all requests and prioritise bookings accordingly. Appointment letters will be mailed directly to the patient, with an attached MRI Safety Questionnaire.
