The ReCov Service is a 12-week tailored Allied Health-led service. It aims to help you with any ongoing COVID symptoms after your infectious period is over.

What is the ReCov Service?

  • The ReCov Service is a 12-week tailored Allied Health-led service. It aims to help you with any ongoing COVID symptoms after your infectious period is over.
  • After your initial assessment, we will work with you to develop a comprehensive care plan to best cater to your symptoms.
  • Services that may be involved in your care include: clinical and neuro psychology, social work, nutrition, occupational therapy, music therapy, physiotherapy, exercise physiology and rehabilitation medicine.
  • The ReCov Service works closely with the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Respiratory Service to provide coordinated and holistic patient-centred care.

Information for referrers

All GP referrals for the ReCov Service should be faxed to Allied Health on 9342 8440, clearly stating the ReCov Service or allied health COVID Service.

Please ensure that the patients COVID infection date, vaccination status, reason for referral, previous treatment and contact details are included.

Any referrals for exercise physiology or physiotherapy should clearly state that the patient is medically appropriate for exercise.

Referral criteria

The ReCov Service accepts referrals for any RMH patients who have ongoing symptoms due to COVID.

The ReCov Service is not able to accept referrals for:

  • Patients not able to actively participate in therapy
  • Patients whose symptoms are not primarily attributable to COVID
  • Patients already undergoing therapy elsewhere for COVID symptoms.

Please note patients who are outside the RMH catchment may be offered Telehealth if there are no local services in their area.
