The amount of radiation used is very low, and a radiographer is a specialist trained to operate the scanner producing the highest quality images with the lowest amount or radiation required.
One is for viewing and reconstructing images.
The images can be reconstructed to show the brain or bone, or even blood vessels.
The other monitor is for telemedicine and has the on-board controls
These chairs seat our radiographer, nurse and neurologist.
On arrival at a job, the radiographer prepares the cabin by moving the single chair to allow for more space near the computer screens.
The radiographer prepares the scanner while the neurologist and nurse assess the patient before bringing the patient on board for their scan and further investigations.
We carry three drug bags full of various stroke medications that might be used to treat the patient, this is on top of the usual ambulance medications that a normal ambulance carries.
The MSU also carries some normal ambulance equipment such as; IV drips, fluids, bandages, gauze, oxygen, resuscitation gear, cardiac monitor, suction and PPE.
