The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Associate Professor Luke Burchill was among the winners of the City of Melbourne’s 2021 Melbourne Awards at the weekend.
A/Prof Burchill was recognised for his efforts developing RMHive, a mental health support app that helps healthcare workers feel informed, supported and connected during the COVID-19 pandemic, and beyond.
The RMHive app was co-designed for and by RMH health workers, and features expert advice on mental health coping strategies, allows users to track their emotional state, includes a section to give light-hearted relief, plus more essential resources and information for health workers and their families.
A/Prof Burchill won the 2021 Knowledge and Innovation Award, a new category at this year’s awards. The Victorian Cancer Biobank was also a finalist in the category – the RMH houses one of the VCB’s five main tissue banks.
