The Royal Melbourne Hospital is supporting staff who provided care to a patient that is a close contact of a person who is COVID-19 positive.

The patient has since returned three negative COVID-19 test results and will be closely monitored. As an interim measure we have identified approximately 200 staff who have cared for the patient or worked in close proximity, and have been furloughed as a precaution.

In accordance with the Victorian Government Department of Health’s updated guidance emergency surgery and outpatient appointments will continue, however where possible appointments will be telehealth.
