Aine is a registered nurse with a keen interest in paediatric care and tuberculosis (TB).
Along with her colleague Elissa Giddings, Aine attends the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) TB clinic to liaison between Victorian Tuberculosis Program (VTP) and RCH.
This collaboration between the RCH treating team and VTP ensures children and their families receive the screening, treatment, education and support they need following a diagnosis of TB. This involves home visits to screen children exposed to TB and arrange appropriate medical follow up.
In the case of a child being diagnosed with TB, support is provided at home to assist with medication education, supervision and to work through other challenges that can arise.
Aine also enjoys providing Mantoux training and education to healthcare providers in the community.
