Professor Catherine Granger (FACP PhD BPhysio-Hons GCUT) is a cardiorespiratory physiotherapist and clinician scientist.
She is a Professor in the Departments of Physiotherapy at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and The University of Melbourne.
Professor Granger is a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists as awarded in 2020. Her research program is focused on lung cancer, surgical cancers, intensive care / critical illness and respiratory diseases, and the role of exercise to maximise patient outcomes.
She has shaped the lung cancer field by delivering path-setting research of international significance related to exercise and rehabilitation (authored over 125 publications) and is the top ranked author globally in the area of exercise and operable lung cancer.
Professor Granger is a strong believer in the dissemination of research findings having received numerous invitations to present at international conferences and media engagements. She has received over 20 research awards including being named the Victorian Young Tall Poppy Scientist of the Year and an ABC Top 5 Scientist of the Year. In 2023 Professor Granger was awarded the top University of Melbourne award for excellence in graduate research supervision in recognition of her supervision and mentoring of PhD students.
