Our Transcultural and Interpreter Service provides highly qualified professional interpreting services to help you communicate with staff at anytime during your stay at the hospital and at your outpatients's appointments.
We have a strong commitment to servicing patients from a culturally and linguistically diverse background (CALD). Interpreting services at the hospital are provided by highly qualified professional interpreters to facilitate the communication between you and your medical treating team either in person or over the phone.
We provide interpreting services in more than 160 languages including AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language).
Our team of interpreters are an essential component of providing high quality and safe care to our patients. Languages they speak include:

How do I organise an interpreter for my next hospital visit?
Please tell us when you make your appointment or on your admission that you need an interpreter. Bookings are only accepted through hospital staff and can not be made directly by patients.
If an interpreter in unavailable to assist at your appointment, we can contact a telephone interpreter service 24 hours a day (including after hours, weekends and public holidays) to help you communicate with us.
