The Sleep Disorders Service commenced operations as a three bed facility in April 2006. The service was the vision of A/Prof Lou Irving and senior respiratory scientist Tim Dimitriadis.

Senior Sleep Physician Dr Jeremy Goldin and Senior Sleep Scientist Jackie Eritaia were recruited to share in the vision. In 2007 the service commenced advanced sleep medicine training, achieving formal accreditation as a training facility in 2010. Since then, a number of our trainees have gone on to make significant contributions to the field of Sleep Medicine.

The service has established and maintained strong research collaborations with a number of key partners including The Royal Women’s Hospital, The RMH Epilepsy Service and the RMH Cardiology Service. We continue to foster collaboration in the field of Sleep Research.

Today we are a NATA accredited six bed unit.
