Geoff graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1985 and completed his residency years and gastroenterology training at The Royal Melbourne and Austin Hospitals. He then undertook a PhD in Neurogastroenterology at the University of Adelaide supervised by Prof Michael Horowitz and Prof John Dent, followed by a postdoctoral position in Zurich Switzerland.
He returned from Zurich to the Repatriation General Hospital in Adelaide prior to his current appointment as Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in (2002 - present) and Clinical Professor in the University of Melbourne. He currently chairs the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee of Melbourne Health (2017 - present).
His academic interests are in Neurogastroenterology and physiological data acquisition.
Other appointments include Gastroenterology Advanced Training Committee of the RACP (2005 - present), Past President of the Australasian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association and past member of the Board of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.
Geoff’s clinical interests are in patients with complex functional gastrointestinal disorders and physiological data acquisition.
