The genetic basis of malignant hyperthermia (MH) is not fully characterised and likely involves more than just the currently classified mutations in the gene encoding the skeletal muscle ryanodine receptor (RYR1) and the gene encoding the alpha 1 subunit of the dihydropyridine receptor (CACNA1S).

Objectives: Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is characterized by burning of the oral mucosa in the absence of underlying dental or medical causes. The results of previous systematic reviews have generally been equivocal. However, findings for most interventions are based on searches of 5-10 years ago.

It can be achieved via the traditional open thoracotomy or the more recently developed video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
