Key points
- This service is for older people experiencing significant or severe mental illness
- We see people at our offices or have the ability to also see people in their own homes when required
- We accept referrals for this service
What we do
Our Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Teams (APATT) provide assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and case management to older adults, helping to prevent unnecessary hospitalisation and minimise the length of stay in acute inpatient facilities.
We work with the older person and their family to assess the severity of their mental illness and recommend an appropriate form of treatment and/or support. In all cases, there is a shared care arrangement with a GP.
Who can use our service
Older adults (typically aged 65 or over) who are experiencing significant disturbance of thoughts, mood or perception, or severe behavioural or psychological symptoms of dementia.
Where we are located
We see people at our clinics or have the ability to also see people in their own homes when required.
Our clinics are located at:
- RMH Royal Park (North West and Inner West APATT)
- Harvester Clinic (Western APATT)
- Broadmeadows
