What we do

We provide community-based treatment to older adults in the Aged Persons Mental Health Program catchment area during an acute phase of mental illness.

By providing treatment in the person's home or usual place of residence, we aim to prevent hospitalisation where possible, or minimise the length of an inpatient stay.

Who can use our service

Consumers are eligible for ICT if they are an older person who:

  • Requires acute mental health treatment for which home care is assessed as a safe and acceptable option
  • Lives within the Aged Persons Mental Health Program catchment area

How we work

We provide intensive services, at least daily and more than Aged Psychiatry Assessment & Treatment Teams (APATT) can provide. Active treatment must be required for us to become involved.

We do not replace the need for community nursing services for functions such as medication administration.
