In May 2016, we opened the doors to a brand new Intensive Care Unit, but your support will still help purchase additional life-saving equipment.
Help us complete our brand new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and help more people like Emma by making a tax-deductible donation now.
Emma spent three days in our Intensive Care Unit, unconscious and on life support. In her darkest hour, our nurses gave her the expert care she needed to survive. Emma was just 21 years old when she was involved in a car accident so horrific it took paramedics one hour to cut her free. When she arrived at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, she had a bleed on her brain, a fractured skull, sternum, collarbone and ankle, a shattered spine, a punctured lung and life-threatening abdominal injuries.
Now, our nurses need you.
Donate today so we can ensure our brand ICU has all 42 beds fully-stocked with the latest medical equipment needed to save lives.
Our new ICU is world-class and state-of-the-art. It will almost double our capacity to care for critically-ill and injured patients, just like Emma.
But we urgently need your help to fund equipment for the final six beds including:
- A ventilator to stabilise the patient and help them breathe
- An ultrasound to understand their injuries and to safely insert needles
- An emergency trolley on stand-by, with all the equipment needed to resuscitate a patient and save their life
These items are a necessity, not a wish list. And they’re exactly what nurses need to save more lives.
Emma was told she would never walk again. But just four months later she was back doing what she loves – horse riding. Now, she has her sights set on competing in the 2016 Paralympic Games, and all thanks to the wonderful support from our ICU team.
Please donate now to help us complete our brand new ICU later this year - and give our nurses the equipment they need to help more people like Emma.
