COVID-19 testing is required for all planned (elective) admissions requiring general anaesthesia or other aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs)
This helps ensure staff have the right protocols in place to care for you safely and the safety of our staff.
All patients planned for admission to the Royal Melbourne Hospital who are having surgery or a procedure that requires, or is likely to require general anaesthesia, or other aerosol-generating procedures, are required to have a preoperative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
Please attend the COVID-19 testing clinic at the RMH Function Centre on the ground floor 20 minutes before your admission. Entry via Grattan Street.
Please note that this service is for planned surgery (elective) patients only and we no longer provide COVID-19 testing for the general public.
If your test is positive our staff will talk to you about your options.
