Announcing our new Director of Clinical Haematology

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Geoffrey Hill as Professor/Director of Clinical Haematology across the RMH and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, commencing in December 2026.

Joining us from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington in Seattle, Professor Hill is an internationally recognised clinician-scientist and leader in haematology, immunotherapy, transplantation and translational cancer research.

This prestigious appointment has been made possible through the support of the Victorian Government, in partnership with the The Australian Academy of Science through the Global Talent Attraction Fund, which aims to bring world-leading researchers to Victoria.

Professor Hill's appointment further strengthens the Parkville Precinct's unique model of integrating world-class research with exceptional patient care. As part of his role, he will also hold a Professorial appointment at the University of Melbourne and a Senior Visiting Research Fellowship with WEHI, collaborating with leading research teams to advance immune therapy development and accelerate the translation of discovery science into improved patient outcomes.

With an outstanding international reputation and a vision to position Melbourne and the Asia-Pacific region at the forefront of advances in haematology and immunotherapy, Professor Hill will help drive the next chapter of innovation across Peter Mac, RMH and our research partners.

There is now a clear opportunity to position the Asia-Pacific, and Melbourne, at the forefront of this transformation.
