Professor Peter Steel is Associate Dean of Digital Health & Informatics at the University of Melbourne, Director of the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, and inaugural Chief Transformation Officer at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
A physician, health-system executive and academic leader, he focuses on applying biomedical data, AI and digital technologies to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. His work spans clinical informatics, health services research, patient safety, technology-enabled care and health-system transformation.
Previously, he held leadership and academic roles at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he led AI and digital health research in acute care. Peter trained at Oxford, University College London, Columbia and Cornell.
