Please note: Faecal Pathogens Detection by PCR has replaced MC&S as the routine testing method. 

This PCR detects: Salmonella spp; Shigella spp; Campylobacter jejuni/coli; Aeromonas spp; Yersinia enterocolitica; Shiga Toxin 1 7 2; C. Difficile Toxin A/B gene; Norovirus; Rotavirus; Adenovirus; Sapovirus; Astrovirus; Giardia intestinalis; Cryptospordium spp; Entamoeba histolytica.
Any samples positive for C.difficile Toxin A/B gene will reflexively be tested for the presence of C.difficile toxin (CLIA).
To request extended Parasite testing; Microscopy; or Culture in addition to PCR; please indicate by clicking the relevant parameter. Please contact the Microbiology Laboratory if you would like to discuss further.
For repeat faecal testing within 7 days, please contact the Microbiology Laboratory for further discussion.

Please specify in the clinical notes if culture is required for suspect Salmonella or Shigella carriage.

If investigation for parasites other than Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Entamaeba histolytica is required please indicate by ticking the parasite box.
