Collection Requirements

4.5mL Lithium Heparin on Ice

Samples submitted for testing MUST be accompanied by a copy of the Pharmacokinetics request form.

Please collect 2mL Whole blood (lithium heparin) prior to the dose, then at 0min, 1h, 2h, 4h and 8h after infusion end. Each specimen MUST be clearly marked with the date/time of collection.

Lithium heparin samples MUST be forwarded to the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory for processing as soon as practicable after collection, as busulphan is only stable in plasma at room temperature for up to 4h.

Alternatively the specimens may be collected and stored on ice/refrigerated and forwarded as a batch after the last collection.
