The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Mental Health Services (MHS) has launched a new portal for carers to support them through their loved ones’ care journey with the organisation.
The portal, available on the RMH website, brings together information and resources to support families, carers, loved ones, supporters and kin of those who are receiving mental health care at the RMH.
The RMH MHS Carer Lived Experience team, led by Director Helen Searle, developed the resources in consultation with consumers and carers and further reinforce person-centred care for both those receiving mental health care and their carers and loved ones.
“It’s so exciting to be launching this and giving all of our families, carers and supporters the ability to access the information they need for their caring role, in the way they need it and when they need it,” Helen said.
The portal includes information about what carers and their loved ones may expect or experience during their time with the organisation; general information about the RMH’s mental health services; information about supports available to them as carers, both at the RMH and through external organisations; and more.
Information about the portal is on display at the RMH’s MHS so carers can easily access it via a QR code or by visiting the website.
“QRSupport4Carers is a game-changer for carers who will be able to access critical information and support for their journey through the service,” said the RMH MHS General Manager, Gail Bradley.
