Nine nurses from the Royal Melbourne Hospital have been in the Northern Territory this week to present at the Australian College of Nursing's National Nursing Forum.

The 3-day forum from 17 to 19 August has given the team the opportunity to share their work and innovations on a national stage.

5 West Day Medical Centre Nurse Unit Manager Nicola Taylor was among Thursday’s presenters, speaking about the ambulatory infusion service developed at the RMH Royal Park.

“It was really cathartic to look back and see what we’ve achieved. I am so proud. The more I spoke the more proud I felt – not just of what we had done, but that we did it together,” Nicola said.

The other presenters from the RMH at the forum were Yasna Cardoza, Deng Deng, Emma Gardiner, Angela Jones, Madelene McPhillips, Clare Rowe, Melissa Stanley and Melody Trueman. Fellow nurses Jayne Amy, Karrie Long, Jade Ryan, Katelyn Stevens and Anne Tuddenham were also co-authors.

The presenters were supported to attend the forum by the RMH Foundation, thanks to the generous support of our donors.

“RMH nurses play a crucial role in advancing healthcare for everyone, every day. The past 2 years have been particularly challenging, and nurses have played a key role in delivering care to the community and improving the health system,” said RMH Foundation Director Edward Smith.

“It is important our nursing staff have the opportunity to present their innovations and learnings with their colleagues and other health services.”
