Head of Colorectal Medicine and Genetics at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), Professor Finlay Macrae, has been awarded the 2021 Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) Distinguished Researcher Prize.

This award is given to a GESA member for their outstanding contribution to research.

Professor Macrae was nominated for his extensive research and contribution made to colorectal medicine and genetics, specifically in inflammatory bowel disease and familial bowel cancer, in addition to his mentorship of fellow researchers.
