A/Prof Alex McLellan is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist with joint appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, and the University of Melbourne.

Alex specialises in the management of complex arrhythmia including AF ablation and ablation of ventricular arrhythmia. He is proficient in complex pacing procedures including biventricular devices, defibrillator implant, and conduction system pacing.

Alex graduated from the University of Sydney in 2005 and completed cardiology training through the Alfred hospital in 2011. He successfully completed a PhD (2012 to 2015) focused on AF ablation strategies.

Alex then undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at Barts Heart Centre in London (UK), for further training in complex ablation and pacing techniques.

As well as his clinical roles, Alex is active as a researcher and supervises clinical and research fellows. He has published extensively (more than 80 papers) and been the recipient of more than 10 national and international awards for his research in cardiac arrhythmia.
