A/Prof Chris MacIsaac is the Director of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) Intensive Care Unit. Chris has been an intensive care specialist at the RMH since 2003.

He was appointed ICU Deputy Director in 2008, Divisional Director of Critical Care & Investigative Services in 2013, ICU Director in 2015 and Medical Director of Access Critical Care & Investigative Services in 2021.

Following his medical degree at Monash University, Chris initially commenced surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

He then went on to complete physician training, specialising in intensive care medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the RMH and was awarded Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2000.

Following this, Chris completed a PhD at The University of Melbourne in Sepsis in 2006. He is a Fellow of The College of Intensive Care Medicine and has completed a Masters of Health Services Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Ultrasound.
