Associate Professor Gayle Ross is Head of Dermatology Research at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and a senior consultant dermatologist with expertise in atopic dermatitis, porphyria, photobiology, genetics, and complex medical dermatology.
She is Clinical Lead of the RMH Eczema Service and leads the Victorian Porphyria Expert Centre and multidisciplinary porphyria clinic at RMH.
Associate Professor Ross has a strong focus on translational and clinical research, with extensive involvement in national and international clinical trials in atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, porphyria, vitiligo, and other inflammatory and genetic skin diseases. She has served as principal investigator on numerous major international studies, including landmark trials in erythropoietic protoporphyria and acute hepatic porphyria.
She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and is actively involved in teaching, registrar supervision, and mentoring research students and fellows. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to international guidelines and advisory committees, and is widely recognised for her leadership in dermatology research and education both nationally and internationally.
