Dr Joe Morton is a cardiologist specialising in electrophysiology and arrhythmia management.

He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1992 and underwent his residency and registrar training in internal medicine and cardiology at Austin Health. He received a National Heart Foundation scholarship and completed a PhD during his fellowship researching atrial electrophysiology and the link between atrial flutter and atrial fibrillation. He subsequently undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Loyola University Medical Centre in Chicago, Illinois.

Joe has undertaken research into various aspects of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. His current research interest is in the field of sudden cardiac death, especially in patients with chronic kidney disease. He has ongoing active research projects investigating and defining the substrate for ventricular arrhythmias in cardiomyopathy.

Joe has extensive research and clinical experience in the management and ablation of complex arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia (VT).
