Nine out of 10 patients and carers who use the Health Hub mobile and web application would recommend it to others.
That was one of the findings of a survey conducted earlier this year of Parkville precinct patients and carers who use Health Hub. The majority of respondents also said the use of technology has improved their overall health.
Health Hub is a secure mobile and web application that connects patients with their hospital information from home or on the go, such as details of upcoming appointments, information about recent specialist clinic visits, test results, and more.
It was introduced in 2020 across the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital. It had already been in use at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
In January 2024, the patient healthcare technology experience survey boasted an exceptional response rate across the precinct, receiving 2823 responses over two weeks.
Findings revealed 97% of patients or carers who responded said the technology was either helpful or very helpful, and 90% would recommend Health Hub to other patients.
“Health Hub is playing in a pivotal role in improving our patients’ experiences of their care by providing them easy access to their own healthcare information,” said the RMH EMR Director Adam Boulton.
“It was wonderful to receive this feedback and confirm that Health Hub is having a positive impact on how our patients and their carers engage with their own healthcare.”
Other insights gathered from the survey include:
- 70% believe that the use of technology has an impact and is improving their overall health
- 86% believe that technology encourages them to more fully participate in their healthcare
- 65+ year olds are showing the highest rates of technology satisfaction
- 87% respondents say the hospitals technology offers convenience and efficiency,
- 87% respondents say it is easy to use
