- Embedding our Speak Up for Safety culture to empower our people to raise concerns and report workplace issues
- Living our values, promoting leadership growth opportunities and encouraging everyone to lead through actions, kindness and care
- Reducing the risk and impact of occupational violence and aggression (OVA) so our people feel safe at work
- Encouraging diversity to bring new ideas and fresh perspectives so we can design new services, improve the ones we have and take care of people as best as we can

Our history
- We were founded in 1848 as the first public hospital in Victoria.
- Today, the RMH is one of the largest health services in the state.
- We are one of Australia's leading public tertiary hospitals.
- We are a registered Major Trauma service (one of only 2 major trauma centres for adults in Victoria and one of only 3 overall).
- We are a major research centre, working with partner universities, research institutes and fellow health services to advance health care.
