Information about how to refer a patient to our cardiology department, including referral criteria and our local and statewide services.
How to refer
We accept GP or specialist referrals. Please use the RMH referral form or a referral letter:
Complete and fax the referral to Specialist Clinics on (03) 9342 4234. We currently do not accept email referrals.
Named referrals required
Referrals must be addressed to a named specialist, or to the department head Professor Andrew Taylor.
Referral criteria
We adhere to certain criteria when accepting referrals.
Where applicable, we use the Victorian Statewide Referral Criteria.

We accept referrals for patients who reside within Melbourne catchment boundaries of:
- Melbourne
- Merri-bek
- Moonee Valley
Statewide specialist services
Some of our specialist services are unique to our hospital and we accept referrals outside of these boundaries on a case-by-case basis.

- Adult Congenital Heart Disease
- Complex Arrhythmia management
- Complex Structural Intervention
- Complex Cardiac Implanted Device implantation, extraction or management
- Genetic Heart Diseases
