The RMH Home Dialysis service is based at the RMH Royal Park, supporting both peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis.

We care for people dialysing at home across Victoria and southern NSW. We also have local home dialysis training and support in regional centres Ballarat, Mildura and Wodonga.

One of the RMH's strategic goals is to grow our home first approach, and people dialysing at home have better quality of life.

Patient education

The Home Dialysis service offers education to assist people to choose which dialysis treatment they are most suited to. Once you are ready for dialysis and training, the nurses will explain everything you need to know about caring for yourself at home.

Peritoneal dialysis patients undertake most of their training in their own home. Haemodialysis training takes place at the RMH Royal Park or one of our two regional training centres.

Care at home

The staff regularly check how your dialysis is progressing and also visit you in your home to make sure you are managing well with your dialysis. There is an outreach clinic, home visits and Medicare-funded clinics at the RMH Parkville and the RMH Royal Park.

We also offer Telehealth care for home dialysis patients.

Health professional education

Our videos are produced to help health professionals learn how to support patients needing home dialysis.
