What we do
Our bed-based service supports older patients leaving hospital who need some extra time and support before they return home or move into residential care.
We provide patients with a private room at BaptistCare Westhaven, Footscray.
The average length of stay is 5 to 6 weeks, but may be up to 12 weeks (offered across both bed-based and home-based streams).

What to bring
For residential aged care
Ask your family or carers to bring:
- Activities you enjoy (for example, newspapers, books, crosswords, headphones)
- Clothes, shoes and toiletries for your stay, so you have familiar items with you
About the facility
Beds are provided in private rooms at BaptistCare Westhaven Community in Footscray.
Visiting hours
The facility has flexible visiting hours. Before and after regular hours, you'll need the codes to enter and exit.
Ask staff for access codes.
Belongings, valuables and money
Keep valuables and money at home where possible as BaptistCare Westhaven cannot take responsibility for lost items.
Laundry
A laundry service is available if you'd prefer your clothing washed on-site. Label the bag and leave it at the Level 2 nurses' station.
You're also welcome to do your own washing at home.
Hair salon
BaptistCare Westhaven has an on-site hair salon that operates on Mondays.
