The car park is open daily, with limited spaces available. There is disabled parking and a temporary zone for pick-up and drop-off on level 2, as well as a reduced rate for regular or concession visitors.
Where is the car park?
The entrance to the car park is at 1F Royal Parade, Parkville. Look for the car parking sign by WEHI and Melbourne Private.
What if the car park is full?
The car park fills quickly early in the day (before 9am), so consider visiting later in the day if you can.
You can also try one of the other local car parks or using public transport to come to the hospital.
There is on-street parking available in the surrounding streets. Most street parking is metered from Monday to Saturday. Check signs for details.
Entry and exit
The car park is accessible 24 hours a day:
- The entrance is open from 6am to 9pm daily
- After hours (from 9pm to 6am), use the intercom at the entrance to request access to the car park
- You can exit at any time. The shutters will open for your vehicle once you have validated your ticket at the boom gates near the exit. Use the intercom at the exit gate if you need help (available 24 hours).
The maximum height for vehicles entering the car park is 2.1 metres.
Accessible parking on level 2
There are no lifts in the car park. If you are not able to use the stairs, there are 18 reserved disabled parking bays on level 2.
Level 2 goes directly through to the ground level entrance of the hospital.
Temporary pick-up and drop-off
Hospital pick-up and drop-off locations include:
- At the temporary pick-up and drop-off bays inside the hospital car park on level 2 (the first 30 minutes in the car park is free)
- The taxi rank outside the hospital main entrance on Grattan Street
- Outside Melbourne Private Hospital on Royal Parade
There are access ramps into the hospital.

Ticket machines accept cash (coins and notes) and credit cards with a surcharge (Visa and MasterCard 2% and Amex 3%).

Concession parking rates
We offer concession parking at a discounted rate.
Ask your nurse unit manager or the department you are visiting for a concession parking form and present it at the car park office.
Concession permits are valid for one week from the date of issue. Each family is entitled to one permit.

If you need help, the car park office is staffed Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 8:30pm, except public holidays.

An intercom button is available 24 hours a day at the entrance and exit.
