Find out moreChanges to Grattan St access due to night works
Starting on Monday 20 April, and running for a minimum of three weeks, night works will be taking place on the façade on the VCCC building on Grattan St. These works will take place on weeknights between 7pm-5am (ie works for the week will conclude at 5am Saturday mornings, and restart 7pm Monday evenings).
To support these works to be completed safely, there will be changes to access to Grattan St during the works periods:
- Traffic access:
- Detours will be in place for non-emergency vehicles during the nightworks periods - this includes public transport buses with the stops at the front of the RMH and Peter Mac (stop IDs 51581 and 28676) closed each night from 7pm to 5am
- The pick-up/drop-off zone at the front of the RMH will remain accessible during these times but drivers will need to approach it from the Flemington Rd end and then exit via a U-turn.
- Cyclists using Grattan St during the works periods should dismount and use the footpath.
- Pedestrian access:
- The footpath on the RMH side of Grattan St will remain open.
- Parts of the footpath of the VCCC/Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) side of Grattan St will be closed, so pedestrians will need to follow the detours in place.
- Train station access:
- The entrance/exit to the Parkville train station near the Peter Mac entrance will be closed during the works periods, with directions in place to the alternative entrances/exits.
Please follow the directions of traffic management staff and plan your journeys during these times accordingly. Thank you for your understanding while these works take place.
We're getting ready for the future
We have an exciting future ahead at the RMH, with works underway to grow and improve our facilities so that we can continue to care for our community when it matters most.
