There are multiple shops and services available in the ground floor retail precinct, whether you want to buy a gift, pay a bill or send mail, or find something to do.
Gifts for patients
Many visitors wish to purchase gifts for patients while in hospital. You can find a range of shops in the retail precinct that sell items such as:
- Flowers
- Chocolates and sweets
- Newspapers, magazines and activities
- Toiletries and personal hygiene products
- Giftware, pyjamas and other personal items
You can also arrange items to be delivered from outside stores, such as flowers from your preferred florist.
Florist and plant shop
You can buy flowers and potted plants from With Flowers in the retail precinct. You are also welcome to arrange delivery to the hospital through another chosen florist if you prefer.
Wards that do not allow flowers
Some areas of the hospital do not allow flowers and plants for safety and infection prevention reasons.
Please do not bring flowers or potted plants for patients into our:
- Emergency Department
- Haematology wards
- Intensive Care Unit
- Cancer wards
- Respiratory wards
- Transplant wards (such as kidney and bone marrow transplants)
Newsagency, magazines and other retail
You can purchase newspapers and magazines from the retail shop, located near the main central elevators and stairs.
For patients who can’t get to the shop, a volunteer may be able to purchase a newspaper or magazine for you. Please note that you will need to provide the volunteer with cash beforehand.
Borrowing books from the library trolley
Patients can also borrow books and magazines from the library trolley. The trolley is run by our volunteers who visit wards on weekdays with various reading materials.
Chocolate shop
Purchase chocolates and treats from Chocolate Box.
Chocolate Box is in the ground floor retail precinct corridor that connects the RMH to the Royal Women's Hospital (the Women's).
