The Sacred Space is a quiet place open to all hospital patients, visitors and staff to visit for reflection, meditation, prayer or to participate in one of the daily or weekly services.
The multi-faith Sacred Space has:
- sacred texts and resources for use (and return) in the left-hand cupboard
- a prayer book for anyone to write prayers or reflections
- an ablutions room available opposite the prayer room
The space is shared by the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) and the Royal Women's Hospital (the Women's).
The Sacred Space and prayer room is a quiet area. Please place phones on silent and keep noise down.
Please do not eat or drink in the Sacred Space area.
Location
The Sacred Space is located in the ground floor retail precinct between the RMH and the Women's:
- When you enter the RMH through the main Grattan Street entrance, turn left away from the information desk. Continue past the cafeteria towards the Women's.
- The entrance to the space is down a corridor on the right side (after the pharmacy).
See our ground floor map:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.

I pay gratitude to God and the universe for all that I have in my life, and especially for best treatment for my health challenges. My sincere thanks to all who have helped me. I pray for the happiness and wellbeing of everyone and everything in the universe.

May we who are gathered together or who care for one another find strength and comfort in our shared humanity and in our collective efforts to support health and healing for all.
May the Blessed Holy One be filled with compassion, for their health to be restored and their strength to be revived. May God swiftly send them a complete renewal of body and spirit.
