What we do

This is a rapid access clinic, providing diagnostic evaluation to differentiate TIAs from stroke mimics and to facilitate timely investigation and management of these patients. 

Most patients being seen in the clinic have a suspected diagnosis of TIA and are being followed up after presenting to our Emergency Department.

Who can use our service

This clinic is suitable for:

  • Adults (aged 18 years or over) with exceptions on a case-by-case basis
  • Patients with a suspected diagnosis of a TIA

This clinic is not suitable for:

  • Paediatric patients
  • Patients who have an established diagnosis of stroke (these patients are best managed in the Stroke Clinic)
  • Patients who have an established diagnosis of a cerebrovascular malformation including aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations (these patients are best managed in the cerebrovascular clinic)
