The Snow Centre for Immune Health aims to transform how immune diseases are treated and understood. The centre is co-led by WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, in partnership with the Snow Medical Research Foundation.

The Snow Centre Research Clinics
The Snow Centre Research Clinics, situated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), gives people suffering from immune conditions and healthy volunteers the opportunity to contribute to developing better diagnostics and treatment.
The Snow Clinics also provide Snow Centre for Immune Health researchers access to rich study participant data to fast-track research translation from bedside to benchtop and back again.
The initial focus of the clinics is on four major areas of disease:
- primary immune deficiencies
- allergies and asthma
- autoimmunity
- kidney transplantation
These areas present significant global health challenges and have been chosen for their potential to benefit from innovative research approaches.
We are also looking to recruit healthy participants to the study. We need volunteers and samples from people with healthy immune systems as well as from those with immune system disorders to advance our work.
What the research clinics do
The focus for the Snow Centre research is to conduct studies on patients’ blood, including:
- immune cell profiling
- measuring immune cell function
- genomic analysis
The results of these studies are correlated with clinical information to explore how immune responses vary between healthy volunteers and in people with immune disorders.
By studying these processes, we hope to develop a better understanding of immune function and more effective therapies, transforming the way we treat immune disorders and enhancing overall health.
The research is conducted jointly by the RMH and WEHI.
What does participation involve?
Study participants in the clinic's studies will be asked:
- to donate a sample of blood
- to provide information about their medical history
- for permission for us to re-contact them over time to follow the immune trajectory in health and disease
About the Snow Centre
The Snow Centre for Immune Health is tackling the major global health challenge of immune health.
The Snow Centre brings together leading Australian and international researchers with a shared mission to improve the lives of people with immune diseases, using a unique approach to immune health research.
The Snow Centre is funded by an initial commitment of up to $100 million over 10 years – one of the largest and longest-running philanthropic partnerships in Australian history.
