Research integrity is a way of thinking and behaving that ensure that research undertaken is trustworthy.
Research merit and integrity is a core principle of the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 (Updated 2018) also include respect for human beings, justice, and beneficence.
The RMH is committed to supporting a research culture that encourages responsible research practices based on the principles of research integrity. Responsible research practices guide researchers in the conduct of their work as well as in their engagement with the practical, ethical and intellectual challenges inherent in research.

USA Office of Research Integrity
The USA Office of Research Integrity offers interactive online training in research integrity for laboratory and research clinic-based researchers.
There is also a collection of case studies relating to research integrity and summaries of actual research integrity cases:
- The Lab – In "The Lab: Avoiding Research Misconduct", you become the lead characters in an interactive movie and make decisions about integrity in research that can have long-term consequences
- The Research Clinic – In this simulation, you get to become a principal investigator, a clinical research coordinator, a research assistant, and an institutional review board (IRB) chair and make decisions that affect the outcome of the story
- Case Studies – Stories of cases in which researchers have had to deal with ethical problems and to find a way out of moral quagmires.
