We work alongside consumers, their families and carers to achieve the best possible outcome for those accessing our services and to support their recovery.

As a clinical mental health service, we assess, treat and support people with mental illness.

We practice within a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed framework, and work with consumers, their families, carers, kin and supporters to:

  • Identify and achieve the consumer's goals
  • Improve their functioning
  • Enhance quality of life

The most effective pathway to recovery usually involves a combination of medical, social and psychological supports. We work alongside people to support their recovery from mental illness.

Health.vic: Trauma-informed care
Trauma informed care practices are central to the work that we do within our mental health services.

By working alongside consumers, families and others, our staff believe they can be:

  • Vehicles of hope
  • Promoters of self-awareness and self-advocacy
  • Mechanisms for meaningful activity
  • Advocates for system-wide changes that improve opportunities for the clients and reduce stigma within the service system and community
