Before you start your employement at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), you must meet the relevant registration, compliance and work eligibility requirements that apply to your role.

Professional registration

If you are applying for a regulated healthcare profession, you must hold current registration with the relevant Australian National Board through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or the appropriate professional registration body for your discipline.

It is your responsibility to make sure your registration is current and that you meet all registration standards and ongoing professional obligations throughout your employment.

Child safety

The RMH is a child-safe organisation, committed to the rights, safety and wellbeing of children and young people in line with the Child Safe Standards.

All RMH employees must hold a valid Working with Children Check and undergo a National Police Check.

See Our recruitment process for more information.

Work rights and visas

All employees must have the legal right to work in Australia. If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you will need a valid visa that permits you to work in Australia.

Visa eligibility and application requirements are managed by the Australian Government. Meeting employment requirements does not guarantee that your visa will be approved.

See Visa pathways and eligibility.

Overseas qualified applicants

We welcome applications from internationally qualified health professionals.

If you obtained your qualifications outside Australia, you must meet the registration and assessment requirements set by the relevant Australian registration authority before you can practise.

Depending on your profession, this may include:

  • qualification assessments
  • English-language proficiency requirements
  • other profession-specific registration standards
