How is my salary determined?
Your salary is based on the classification and pay point outlined in the relevant enterprise agreement, as well as any allowances or entitlements that apply.
Your starting salary or rate of pay may also depend on your:
- qualifications
- experience
- previous relevant service
- appointed position
Salary increases
Many positions include annual progression through pay points, subject to the conditions of the relevant enterprise agreement. Enterprise agreement wage increases may also apply when new salary circulars are issued.

What is a salary circular?
A salary circular is a document that details the pay scales, allowances and annual increases approved for Victorian public health sector employees. They are updated when new wage increases are implemented under enterprise agreements or government salary determinations.
These documents are reviewed and issued by the Victorian Hospitals' Industrial Association (VHIA).
