NeuronCare is a professional development and training program for early career physiotherapists that combines virtual and face-to-face training. The course runs over 5 weeks from 3 June 2026.

What is NeuronCare?

NeuronCare is a professional development course for early career physiotherapists, physiotherapy students and allied health assistants (AHAs) to build knowledge and practical skills in acute neurological physiotherapy.

NeuronCare uses a multi-modal, learner-informed design that includes interactive webinars, evidence-based frameworks, case studies and practical training to support translation into clinical practice.

About the course

Course offerings

The course is a 14-hour training program spread over 5 weeks that includes:

  • 4 weekly webinars presented over 6 hours
  • 7 hours of practical training (one-day session)

The program is delivered and facilitated by experienced senior physiotherapists working clinically in acute neuroscience settings.

Location and delivery

The full NeuronCare course is a mixture of online and face-to-face learning. The face-to-face practical training will take place at the RMH Royal Park.

A webinar-only package is available for participants who do not wish to participate in the face-to-face practical training session.

Due to limited places, the face-to-face practical session is currently only open to qualified physiotherapists.

Physiotherapy students and allied health assistants are welcome to register for the webinar series.

Cost

Webinar and practical training:

  • Early bird course fee (if purchased by 8 May): $500
  • Standard cost (if purchased on or after 9 May): $600

Webinar-only series: $100

Program schedule

The webinars run weekly for 4 weeks:

  • Wednesday 3 June, 3pm to 4:30pm
  • Wednesday 10 June, 3pm to 4:30pm
  • Wednesday 17 June, 3pm to 4:30pm
  • Wednesday 24 June, 3pm to 4:30pm

Webinar topics include:

  • Acute Stroke
  • Acute Functional Neurological Disorder
  • Acute Traumatic Brain Injury and Neurosurgery
  • Neuromuscular Disorders (Respiratory)

For those enrolled in the full course, the one-day practical training session is scheduled to run on Friday 3 July from 9am to 4pm at the RMH Royal Park.

Practical session topics include:

  • Upper limb assessment and rehabilitation
  • Early functional rehabilitation
