Don't bring germs in - don't take germs home.
Research shows that clean hands dramatically decrease infections.
It's possible to get an infection while in hospital that can make your care more complicated.
To help prevent infection, try to:
- Wash your hands before and after visiting the toilet and before all meals
- Tell us if you have been unwell, for example with diarrhoea or vomiting
- Let your nurse know if your bed area or bathroom is dirty
Visitors and staff need to wash their hands with soap and water or use hand cleaning gel before and after patient contact and ensuring they are wearing an appropriate mask. Hand cleaning gel pumps are available in public areas of the hospital, at ward entrances and throughout ward areas.
