Why use Telehealth
Telehealth is:
- easy to use – you can access it on any smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera, making it very easy to use
- safe and secure – no patient information is retained by the system, so your health information is safe and secure
- quick and cheap – you don't need to travel to get to your appointment, saving you time and money
Telehealth video calls allow you and your healthcare provider to see each other, without you needing to travel to the hospital.
Can I use Telehealth?
Telehealth may suit you if:
- you live in a rural or regional area, or if it is difficult for you to travel to our hospital or clinics
- your appointment is a follow-up, review or a discussion of results rather than a physical examination
- you are unwell and attending an in-person appointment is a risk to your health or the health of others
You may need an in-person appointment instead if:
- your clinician needs to examine you physically
- you don't have a private space, device or internet connection for a video call
Already have an in-person appointment but feeling unwell?
If you have an upcoming specialist clinic (outpatient) appointment and you're unwell, you may be able to switch it to Telehealth instead of coming in.
